How can you benefit from cloud computing?

Posted by Temi Adedeji on Jul 05, 2023

With smartphones, laptops, 5G networks and more at our disposal, technology has become integral to our daily routines. One significant area of digital growth has been Cloud Computing.

In 2013 the government introduced a ‘Cloud First’ policy for all technology decisions, which includes a number of Cloud Principles that public sector organisations should follow. The aim of the principles is to strike a balance between speed of delivering technology, the cost and resource needed, and reducing risk.

Cloud Computing is the delivery of computing services. It includes servers, storage, databases, networking and software that continues to grow and develop every year. Introducing cloud solutions can improve flexibility, collaboration and communication and ultimately support an organisations digital transformation journey.

Cloud infrastructures can also support environmental proactivity, it powers virtual services rather than physical products and hardware, which improves energy efficiency, and (given that it allows employees access from anywhere with an internet connection) reduces commuter-related emissions.

How can cloud computing benefit your organisation?

  • Anywhere, anytime accessibility using any device
  • Better security
  • Improve environmental sustainability
  • Improve collaboration
  • Improve resilience

At KCS Procurement Services we provide a pathway for organisations to procure solutions such as cloud computing through our Software and Associated Services framework. It covers the provision of a full range of software (including open source), essential hardware and associated services and support and maintenance for cloud-based, on-premise and hybrid software solutions.
